The latest headline figures for arrests and banning orders scream at us once again! If we believe the press then we are a bunch of rampaging neanderthals!

is the headline! 

Lets look a bit deeper though! At 149 indeed they are 3 times the runner up, but of those 149 only 8 were for violent conduct a figure which puts us joint 4th! 

                     52 were for 'public disorder' which is a nice catch all and covers anything from looking funny at someone to being near someone else. No mention of how many were for protests against the current management either

                     52 were for 'alcohol related' offences. again seems high, but it would appear that Elland road has a much stricter policy than most other clubs when it comes to alcohol inisde the ground. I'm not saying its wrong, but you have a better chance of being arrested at Elland Road if you once took the top off a Shandy Bass than at most other grounds.   

Next if we look at Banning Orders the headline tells us 106 2nd highest in the entire league! 

It doesn't say that this is a historical figure that has built up over the years, last year we had 18 new banning orders imposed a score which puts us 14th in the list. 

the figures aren't great but if you pro rata them to the support base then the average comes even lower 

It is no cause for complacency, but equally no one has to start boiling the oil when Leeds are in town.
